West Beck

West Beck is a modest lake just outside Driffield, the sort of place locals know about but tourists often miss. It's a working water body rather than a manicured attraction - there's no visitor centre, no café, just the lake itself and the footpaths around it.

There's a car park (free, as far as anyone can tell - it's that sort of place), and you can walk straight onto the path. Spring and autumn are proper good for migration seasons, which sends the bird brigade mental. Summer feels busier with dog walkers and local runners doing loops.

If you're camped at Greengrass Park or Kingfisher Lakes nearby, West Beck makes a decent leg-stretch without driving far. It won't be the highlight of your holiday - don't expect drama or Instagram moments - but it's the kind of unrushed spot that reminds you why East Yorkshire's quiet appeal works. Twenty minutes from Driffield town centre, and you're somewhere that feels properly separate from it all.
