Weston Subedge Recreation Ground

The recreation ground sits on the edge of Weston Subedge, a quiet village just outside Chipping Campden, and it's the sort of place locals know well but visitors often miss. Woodland paths criss-cross the site, offering proper walks through mixed trees with patches of open grassland where the views stretch across the Cotswolds. There's a real sense of space here - you won't feel crowded even on weekends.

It's genuinely good for families. Kids can burn energy on the open ground, and the woodland trails are manageable without being boring. The whole site feels safe and well-maintained, though there's nothing fussy about it. Walkers will find it a solid 45 minutes to an hour for a decent loop, depending on how much poking about you do. History buffs might appreciate the pastoral setting that's barely changed in centuries, though there are no specific landmarks to fret over.

Best approached in spring or early autumn when the light filters through properly and you're not swatting insects. Free access as far as I can tell, with decent parking nearby. It works brilliantly as a morning outing if you're based at Campden Yurts or Cotswold Woodland Glamping - both a short drive away - before heading into Chipping Campden town centre for lunch. Not a destination in itself, but absolutely worth the detour if you're exploring the Cotswolds on foot.
