Walking the muddy paths here feels like stepping into a secret corner of Surrey that most people simply drive past. This local nature reserve sits quietly on the outskirts of Woking, a proper slice of woodland and heathland that's remained largely unchanged despite the surrounding suburban sprawl.

Birdwatchers will have the best time here - the mix of mature trees and open clearings attracts a decent variety of species throughout the year. The paths can get properly boggy after rain, so decent boots are essential if you're planning more than a quick stroll.

Families with young children might find it a bit underwhelming compared to more formal nature centres. There are no facilities to speak of, and the terrain isn't pushchair-friendly. But for anyone wanting a peaceful walk without crowds, it's well worth the short detour from the A3.
