For a caravan or camping holiday in the area, Greendale Farm sits just 2.6 miles away and has the ratings to back it up - proper base for exploring these quieter corners. Eye Kettleby Lakes is another solid option at 5.7 miles out. Neither is fancy, both are practical.

Visit when the weather's forecast decent rather than dragging yourself out in drizzle. The rough ground and open aspect mean you'll feel the wind and wet more than you would in a woodland walk. Worth the detour if you're touring the area, not worth planning your whole trip around.
