Ecton Hill sits just outside town and draws geology enthusiasts - the limestone here was quarried for centuries, leaving fascinating rock formations. Pike Pond attracts anglers and families alike, though it can get busy at weekends during summer.

Getting here couldn't be easier. The M1 runs just west of town, while the A45 provides a direct route from Birmingham or Cambridge. Northampton's main railway station connects to London Euston in under an hour, making this surprisingly accessible for a base.

Staying at one of the parks around Billing Aquadrome or Overstone Lakes puts you within striking distance of both town amenities and countryside walks. You're close enough for a quick dash to the shops, yet surrounded by green space that feels properly rural. The Nene Valley stretches east towards Peterborough, while the Northamptonshire uplands roll away to the south - perfect for exploring different landscapes each day.
