A' Ghlas-bheinn

The walk up A' Ghlas-bheinn is straightforward without being dull - a proper Highland hill rather than a grind. Starting from near Kyle, you're looking at roughly 2.5 hours to the summit if you're moving at a decent pace, maybe three if you're stopping to catch your breath and take photos. The views across the Sound of Sleat toward Skye are genuinely excellent, especially on a clear day when you can pick out the Cuillin Ridge. It's not one of those peaks where you feel cheated by the effort.

Families with older kids will find this manageable, though younger ones might struggle with the sustained climb. Serious hill walkers often skip it in favour of the bigger neighbours, which is their loss - the relative quiet means you'll probably have the place to yourself. The path is reasonably well-maintained and cairns mark the way, so navigation isn't tricky.

If you're staying at Glenshiel Campsite just down the road, this works perfectly as a morning outing that doesn't eat the entire day. Go early - the weather can turn on you quickly in these parts. Free to climb, naturally, and bring water because there's nothing on the hill. The descent seems to take forever on tired legs, so don't leave it too late in the afternoon. Winter attempts are serious business and require proper kit.
