Achnacree Moss, Crannog

Walking through boggy terrain to reach what looks like nothing more than scattered stones in a moss-covered field, you might wonder if you've taken a wrong turn. But these unremarkable remains mark one of Scotland's ancient crannogs - artificial islands built in lochs as defensive homesteads thousands of years ago.
