An t-Sron

The walk up An t-Sron from Arrochar is a proper hill scramble rather than a gentle stroll, and that's rather the point. You're looking at a decent 2-3 hour round trip depending on your fitness, climbing nearly 900 metres to reach the summit above Loch Long. The views from the top are genuinely worth the effort - on a clear day you can see across the Arrochar Alps, down the loch, and if you're lucky, catch the shimmer of Loch Lomond to the east.

This one's for walkers with some experience. It's not technical climbing, but the terrain is steep and can be boggy lower down, so proper boots matter. Families with older kids who've done a few hills before will manage fine; younger ones might struggle with the sustained gradient. The path is well-trodden and straightforward to follow, which helps. Allow a full morning or afternoon - it's not the sort of peak you knock off in an hour.

You can start from just outside Arrochar itself, making it dead convenient if you're based at Forest Holidays Ardgartan or Loch Lomond Holiday Park nearby.
