Ardconnel Terrace

The Victorian terraces that line Ardconnel Terrace in Oban are a proper snapshot of 19th-century Scottish seaside ambition. The terrace sits within easy walking distance of Oban's town centre, so it slots naturally into a seaside day out rather than being a destination in itself.

Historically minded visitors will get the most from this - understanding what Oban was trying to be during the Victorian boom makes the whole town make more sense. It's free to walk past, obviously, and you can pop into the National Museum of Scotland building at the top if you fancy more context. Allow half an hour to properly take it in without rushing.
