There's something quietly satisfying about it though - the light through the canopy, the usual forest sounds, the lack of crowds you'd get at bigger attractions.

If you're staying at Pepper Pot Caravan Park just down the road, this sits conveniently between a day out and a gentle evening stroll. Same if you're glamping at Wixoldbury Farm. It doesn't demand hours of your time and works well as a break during a broader explore of the Cotswolds fringe. The Dursley area itself has proper pubs and a working high street, so it's not a case of heading miles for supplies.

On a dry day it's worth the visit. After heavy rain, expect proper mud. There's no entrance fee or visible opening hours - it's the kind of place you just turn up to and use.
