Beavers Hill

Rolling green slopes rise gently from the Pembrokeshire coastline just inland from Tenby, offering walkers a proper stretch of the legs without the brutal climbs you'll find further north. Beavers Hill isn't exactly Snowdon - this is more of a substantial mound than a proper peak - but the views across the Celtic Sea make it well worth the effort.

Families with older children will find the gradient manageable, though toddlers might need carrying for the final push. The path is clear enough, winding through farmland and patches of gorse that blaze yellow in spring. From the top, you can spot Caldey Island on clear days and watch the boats heading in and out of Tenby harbour.

Expect to spend an hour or two here, depending on how long you linger at the summit taking photos. There's no entrance fee - it's just open countryside - and the best time to visit is late afternoon when the light catches the coastline perfectly.

Staying at one of the nearby holiday parks makes this an easy afternoon excursion. Haven Kiln Park Holiday Centre and the various glamping sites around Freshwater East put you within striking distance, and it's a nice way to work off a proper Pembrokeshire breakfast before heading to the beach.
