A proper woodland walk rather than a manicured tourist spot, Bennet's Hill Plantation sits just outside Launceston and delivers exactly what it promises - dense forest, decent paths, and genuine peace and quiet. The plantation is mixed woodland, thick with conifers and broadleaves, offering good shelter even on damp Cornish days. You're looking at a solid hour or two wandering the trails here, depending on how far you fancy pushing into it.

It's the kind of place that works brilliantly for families who want their kids burning energy without needing a visitor centre or gift shop. Walkers get proper value too - the terrain isn't dramatic, but it's pleasant, and you won't be fighting crowds like you might at some of the honey-pot spots nearby. Dog walkers seem to make up a fair chunk of visitors, which tells you something about its appeal.

The real strength is how it slots into a broader Launceston holiday. If you're based at Trewithen Farm Glamping or Ekopod just down the road - both excellent choices, incidentally - you can knock out a morning walk here without any faffing about. It's the sort of place where you actually feel like you've stepped away rather than just ticked a box. Go on a weekday morning if you can, when the light filters through the canopy properly and you'll have the place almost entirely to yourself.
