Bewl Water Aqua Park

The water sports facilities at Bewl Water are genuinely impressive - a proper working reservoir that's been transformed into a serious playground for anyone keen on getting on the water. You've got kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing lessons, and a full aqua park setup with inflatables and obstacle courses that'll keep most people occupied for a solid half-day, possibly longer if you're doing lessons.

It's the kind of place that works brilliantly for families with kids old enough to swim confidently, and for adults who actually want to do something rather than just sit by water looking at it. The infrastructure is well-maintained and the instructors know their stuff. Beginners can take lessons in everything from sailing to SUP, so you don't need prior experience. Word of warning though - it gets busy on warm weekends, so aim for weekday visits if you can.

Wadhurst is the nearest town, though there's genuinely not much there beyond the essentials. What matters is that the water centre sits nicely within reach of some excellent camping spots. Hopgarden Glamping is only a mile and a half away and has a solid 5-star reputation, making it an obvious choice if you want to pair watersports with proper accommodation. Glassenbury Camping is another five miles out if you prefer traditional pitches.

Entry and lesson costs vary - ring ahead before you go, as prices shift seasonally. Allow at least three hours if you're doing an activity, longer if you've got children who want to tackle the aqua park obstacles.
