Broom House Farm Shop stocks what you'd expect from a proper working farm operation - fresh seasonal veg, local meat, eggs, and all the bits that make cooking feel less like a chore and more like you've got access to something real.

It's worth a stop if you're the sort who actually cares where your dinner comes from. Families with small kids will find it entertaining enough for twenty minutes or so - there's usually farm animals about, and children get a kick out of picking their own veg during harvest season. Beamish Holiday Park and Beamish Glamping, both within five miles, offer similar convenience. If you're basing yourself at one of the caravan parks further out - Durham Grange sits nearly six miles away - it's still an easy detour on a drive toward Durham city itself.

Opening hours and admission fees aren't confirmed, so ring ahead before making the journey. Not every farm shop keeps regular hours, and some operate seasonally. Worth doing though - the prices are fair and the quality's genuine.
