Bullshill Spinney

A proper woodland walk near Daventry, Bullshill Spinney is the sort of place you stumble upon rather than plan for. It's a small forest - nothing vast - but the trees are decent and the paths are easy enough for families without becoming tedious for actual walkers.

What you get here is straightforward: woodland trails through mixed trees, decent cover if the weather turns, and enough space to feel like you've left Daventry behind for an hour or so. It's not dramatic. No viewpoints, no big reveal at the end. But that's rather the point. The appeal is the simple fact of being among trees, hearing birds, and watching light filter through the canopy. Kids will enjoy it if they're the type who like poking about, finding things, spotting wildlife. Older children might find it a bit quiet.

You're not talking hours here - a decent circuit takes maybe 45 minutes at a casual pace, longer if you're very thorough or have small legs. The woodland floor is a mix of muddy and manageable, depending on recent weather, so boots are sensible.

If you're based at EWE Glamping nearby, this works nicely as a morning walk before something else. It fills a gap in a Daventry-area break rather than being a destination in itself. Well worth a go if you're in the area and fancy some woodland air, but don't rearrange your plans to visit.
