Calf Ridge

Sharp winds cut across this exposed ridgeline summit in the heart of Shropshire's Long Mynd. Calf Ridge sits at a proper elevation where you'll feel every gust, but the panoramic views across the Welsh borders make the climb worthwhile. The walk up from Church Stretton takes about an hour, following well-trodden paths that can get boggy after rain.

Serious walkers will love the challenge and the sense of achievement at the top. Families with teenagers might manage it, but little ones will struggle with the distance and exposure. The ridge offers some of the finest hill walking in the West Midlands, with sweeping vistas that stretch to the Brecon Beacons on clear days.
