The animals here are the main draw - a proper working farm where you can get up close to sheep, goats, pigs and the usual suspects. It's the kind of place where kids can actually touch and feed things rather than just stare through glass, which tends to keep them occupied for a solid couple of hours. The setup is fairly basic, all things considered. You're walking around enclosures on a working farm rather than navigating some grand zoo layout, but that's actually part of the charm if you've got little ones who need to burn energy.

Families with children under ten will get the most from this - especially if they're at that stage where they want to interact with animals but still find a full day at a major zoo exhausting. It's close enough to Lincoln that you could easily slot it in as a half-day activity alongside other attractions in the area. If you're camping at Hartsholme Country Park or any of the sites dotted around the region, this makes a decent wet-weather backup or a quiet morning out.

I'd recommend checking their website or ringing ahead first - opening hours and admission fees aren't straightforward, and you'll want to know whether they're open on the day you're visiting and what you're actually paying. Go early if you can, especially in summer when it gets busy with school groups. The farm setting means it can get muddy underfoot after rain, so wellies are worth bringing.
