Daventry Library

You won't find this tucked away down some leafy lane - Daventry Library sits right in the heart of town, a proper working library that actually serves the community rather than waiting for tourists to wander in. It's the sort of place where locals pop in for the free WiFi, to browse the fiction shelves, or attend one of the regular reading groups and events they run throughout the year. The building itself isn't going to win any architectural prizes, but that's rather the point. This is functional, accessible, and run by actual librarians who know what they're doing.

Families with younger children will find a decent children's section with story times during school holidays. If you're staying at one of the nearby glamping spots - EWE Glamping, Hideaway Wood Farm or Magic Mushroom Cabin are all within three miles - and the weather turns grim, it's a free way to kill an hour or so. You can borrow books, use the computers, or just sit quietly with a cup of tea from the café if there is one (check ahead on opening hours, as they're fairly limited: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10am-4pm, Saturday mornings only).

Worth a quick visit if you're already in Daventry town centre? Absolutely. A reason to make a special journey? Only if you're genuinely after something specific or desperate for somewhere warm and dry. The real draw of a park holiday in Northamptonshire is the countryside itself, not the indoor facilities.
