Dry Hill

The walk up Dry Hill rewards you with one of those rare Kentish views that actually justifies the climb. It's not a dramatic peak by any stretch - you're looking at around 800 feet of elevation - but the vistas across the Weald towards Sussex are genuinely worth the effort, particularly on a clear day when you can pick out the South Downs on the horizon.

From Edenbridge, it's a straightforward ramble of about an hour and a half up and back. The path is well-trodden, muddy in places after rain, and there's nothing technical about it. Families with reasonably fit kids will manage fine, though pushing a pram would be pointless. Walkers looking for an accessible afternoon out will find it exactly that - proper rewarding without being exhausting.

The summit itself is fairly bare, which actually works in its favour. You get unobstructed views rather than standing in a copse wondering where the landscape's gone. On weekends, you'll spot a handful of others up there, but it never feels crowded.

If you're based at one of the nearby glamping spots - Luna Domes or Glamping at Long Acres are both within four miles - this makes an excellent half-day venture. Pair it with the easier walking around Long Acres Caravan & Camping Park's grounds and you've got a solid day outdoors. There's no visitor infrastructure on the hill itself, so bring water and snacks. No entry fees, no faffing about with parking permits. Just turn up and walk.
