Farragon Hill

The walk up Farragon Hill rewards you with proper Highland views without requiring mountaineering skills or a full day's commitment. It's a modest peak by Perthshire standards - nothing that will leave you gasping - but the ascent from Aberfeldy is straightforward enough that families with older kids won't struggle, and the ridgeline walk itself offers genuine satisfaction.

What you get is open moorland, clear sightlines across the Tay Valley, and on a decent day, views that stretch well beyond the immediate area. The path is reasonably well-trodden but not tourist-trampled. You can knock this out in a couple of hours if you're hiking efficiently, or take longer and just sit about enjoying the space. It's the sort of walk that feels like a proper achievement without being genuinely taxing.

This works particularly well as a half-day outing if you're based at one of the nearby caravan parks - Aberfeldy Caravan Park, Tummel Valley Holiday Park, or Faskally Woods are all within striking distance. Pair it with a pint in Aberfeldy town afterwards and you've got a solid Perthshire day. Not a destination by itself, but a genuine value-add for anyone already camping or caravanning in the area. The walking season runs April through October, though even winter ascents are possible in decent conditions. Worth the detour if you're after hill air and views without the commitment of Ben Lawers or the other major peaks nearby.
