Ffynnon Seiriol

The walk down to Ffynnon Seiriol on Anglesey's eastern coast is what makes it worthwhile, frankly. You're heading towards Beaumaris, and once you've parked near Penmon Point, you'll find yourself on a coastal path that drops steeply through woodland before emerging at this small stone well, supposedly blessed by a sixth-century saint. The well itself sits right by the shore, hemmed in by rocks, and on a clear day you can see across the Menai Strait to Snowdonia - that alone justifies the trek.

It's not a major attraction, so don't expect facilities or interpretation boards. The appeal is pure and simple: a genuine medieval structure in a proper wild spot, the kind of place walkers and history types will appreciate far more than casual visitors. Allow an hour there and back from the car park, longer if you're lingering on the rocks or exploring the wider headland.

Worth doing while you're based at any of the nearby parks - Plas Yn Llangoed, Kingsbridge, or Wonderfully Wild all put you within striking distance of Beaumaris. It's free, obviously, and you can combine it with a wander around Penmon Point itself or a visit into Beaumaris town for proper food. Go early in the day if you value solitude; afternoons can get busy with day-trippers. The path can be muddy and rough after rain, so proper shoes are essential.
