The woodland around Worksop has a certain quiet magic to it, and Fifty Acre Wood delivers exactly what the name promises - a proper forest walk without the crowds you'd find at bigger attractions. It's the sort of place where you can actually hear yourself think, which feels increasingly rare these days.

You're looking at mixed woodland with decent paths running through it, ideal for a couple of hours of gentle rambling. Families with younger kids will find it manageable enough, though it's not a destination that'll keep them entertained all day - you're here for fresh air and greenery, not facilities or spectacle. The main appeal is straightforward: trees, peace, and a break from the caravan park routine.

It works well as a morning jaunt while based at one of the nearby sites. Clumber Park is only a few miles away and offers far more in terms of estate walks and activities, so you might combine the two if you're serious about exploring the area. The National Trust site at Clumber is genuinely worth the extra miles if you want a bigger day out.

Worksop itself is close enough that you can sort supplies before or after. There's no charge as far as I can tell - it's just woodland access - and you can spend as little or as much time here as suits you. Go early in the day if possible. The light through the trees is best then, and you'll avoid whatever dog walkers and locals tend to show up later.
