Horse Pasture Screed

A proper woodland walk through mixed forest just outside Worksop, Horse Pasture Screed is one of those local spots that doesn't make the guidebooks but rewards a quiet morning or afternoon stroll. It's best suited to walkers after something low-key rather than dramatic. You won't find viewpoints or heritage plaques here; this is straightforward forest rambling. The trails are well-maintained enough for families with older kids, though the sandy soil can get boggy after heavy rain. Allow an hour or two depending on which loops you fancy - there's no single obvious route, which means you can tailor the distance to what you've got time for.

Based just over a mile from Clumber Park, it works nicely as a secondary walk if you're staying at one of the holiday parks in the area. Clumber itself is the main draw - that's your National Trust estate with the big lake and manicured grounds. Horse Pasture Screed gives you the wilder side of Sherwood Forest without the crowds or the ticket barrier.
