Halbullock Moor

Out on the moorlands between Truro and the coast, Halbullock Moor is exactly what you'd expect from a Cornish hilltop - wind, views, and not much else. That's rather the point. It's a proper moorland walk, the kind where you can see for miles across scrubland and rolling countryside without a building in sight. The moor itself is open access, so there's no entrance fee or official opening hours to worry about. Just turn up, park nearby, and head out on foot.

This isn't a polished tourist attraction with benches and interpretation boards. It's for walkers who actually want to walk, history enthusiasts fascinated by Bronze Age archaeology (there are barrows dotted about), or anyone after a bit of Cornish solitude. Allow a couple of hours if you're making a proper morning of it. The wind can be genuine, so dress accordingly - this isn't a casual stroll in flat shoes.

If you're based at one of the nearby holiday parks - Carnon Downs is closest at just 2.5 miles - it's worth the short drive for a half-day adventure. Combine it with a visit to Truro itself for shops and lunch, or push on towards the coast. The moor works best on clear days when visibility makes that effort up the slopes feel worthwhile. On wet, foggy afternoons, honestly, you won't see much beyond the next field.
