Inkberrow Christmas Tree

A gnarled old yew tree stands in the churchyard at Inkberrow, near Pershore, and locals reckon it's been there since before Christmas was even properly invented. The trunk is absolutely massive - you'll want to wrap your arms round it just to get a sense of scale. This is the sort of place where you show up, spend ten minutes photographing the thing from different angles, then realise you've got a proper story to tell back home.

It's a landmark for history types and anyone fascinated by ancient trees rather than a day-long attraction. The churchyard itself is pleasant enough for a wander, and Pershore town centre is close by if you want a cup of tea afterwards. There's no charge to look at it, naturally - it's just standing there doing its thing.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Plum Tree Glamping's yurts are exceptional, and Wixford Grange gets solid reviews - this makes an easy half-hour detour. The tree works well as a stop-off between bigger Warwickshire attractions rather than a destination in itself. Go in autumn or early winter when the churchyard's at its best. Midday visits mean better light for photos without the glare.
