Knoll Hill

The walk up Knoll Hill rewards you with proper views across the Somerset Levels - that flat, wide expanse of marshland and fields that stretches out below Bridgwater. It's not a dramatic peak by any measure, but on a clear day you can see right across to the Mendips, and that's worth the leg work.

The climb itself is straightforward and takes maybe thirty to forty minutes depending on your pace. There's something undeniably appealing about climbing a Somerset hill that most people driving past on the M5 never notice exists. If you're based at one of the nearby campsites - The Hideout or Thornhills are both within a few miles - this makes an excellent morning outing before heading off elsewhere. It's the kind of spot that gives a caravan holiday proper structure without demanding much effort. Combine it with a walk round Bridgwater town itself or a visit to nearby reserves in the Levels, and you've got a solid day sorted.
