Tucked away in the Cheshire countryside near Frodsham, this craft centre occupies a converted farm complex that feels refreshingly authentic rather than polished. The stone buildings house a rotating selection of local artisans - potters, woodworkers, jewellery makers and textile artists among them.

Families will find plenty to keep children engaged, particularly in the pottery studio where youngsters can get properly messy creating their own pieces. The woodworking demonstrations are fascinating to watch, though kids might lose interest after twenty minutes or so. Adults with an eye for quality craftsmanship will appreciate the range - prices aren't bargain basement but reflect the skill involved.

The centre works well as a gentle afternoon out when staying at nearby Delamere Forest or one of the Lady Heyes sites literally next door.
