Llangorse Multi Activity Centre

Llangorse Lake is where Powys gets genuinely active. The multi-activity centre sits right on the water, which is the main draw - it's a proper outdoor playground rather than a traditional sports facility. You can kayak, paddleboard, sail, or just mess about in boats. There's also land-based stuff like archery and cycling if the lake doesn't appeal, though honestly, once you're on the water you won't want to leave.

Families with kids aged eight upwards will have the best time here. Beginners are absolutely catered for - instructors know what they're doing and won't throw you in the deep end (literally). Teenage watersports enthusiasts can get properly stuck in. Adults who've never paddled before often surprise themselves with how quickly they pick it up. If you're not sporty at all, watching others attempt to stand-up paddleboard alone is entertainment enough.

The lake itself is lovely - about two miles long with the Brecon Beacons rising up behind it. The setting's what makes it special, not just the facilities. Allow a full day if you want to try multiple activities. Half a day works if you're laser-focused on one thing.

Crickhowell is three miles away and worth a proper mooch around - good pubs and a solid high street. You're well-positioned between Cwmdu Campsite and Pencelli Castle if you're based in the area. The lake's free to access as a visitor, though activities cost, but you won't find cheaper instruction in Wales.
