Magpie Holt

A proper woodland walk away from Skegness' seafront buzz. Magpie Holt is a modest forest patch where you can actually hear yourself think - no fairground noise, no slot machines, just trees and the occasional bird that gave the place its name. The woodland floor is soft underfoot, paths wind through without being overly manicured, and it's the sort of spot where kids can properly explore without worrying about traffic.

It's not a destination that'll eat up your whole day. Most people spend an hour or so wandering the trails, which is honest work rather than a trudge. The main appeal is escape - if your caravan holiday at Haven Skegness or Parkdean Resorts Southview is getting a bit relentless, this is where you slip away for a breather. The woodland's only a short drive from Skegness town centre, making it handy for a morning outing or cooling off on a warm afternoon.

Family groups will find it decent enough, particularly if you've got kids who get restless on beaches. Dog walkers seem to gravitate here too. What you won't find is facilities - bring water, stick to daylight hours, and don't expect car parks or cafes. It's genuine woodland, not a visitor attraction with turnstiles.

Worth a visit if you're already in the area and need to break up the seaside routine. Don't travel specially from further afield, but as part of a broader Skegness break, it fills a genuine gap.
