The Ten Acres

Dense woodland stretches across this small but proper forest reserve just inland from Skegness, offering a refreshing escape from the seaside crowds. The Ten Acres lives up to its name - it's not vast, but what it lacks in size it makes up for with thick canopy and well-established paths that wind through mixed deciduous trees.

Families staying at nearby Haven Skegness or Parkdean Southview will find it a decent morning's diversion, especially when the beach weather turns. Kids can burn off energy on the woodland trails while parents enjoy the peace. The paths are fairly level, though they can get muddy after rain - proper walking boots recommended if it's been wet.

Dog walkers seem to have claimed this as their territory, which makes sense given how close it is to the holiday park circuit around Skegness. Allow an hour or two at most unless you're planning a longer ramble through the surrounding countryside. It's the sort of place that works best as part of a bigger day out rather than a destination in itself.

Being Lincolnshire, the terrain is refreshingly flat compared to Peak District alternatives, making it accessible for most fitness levels. Worth combining with a trip into Skegness proper if you're based at one of the coastal parks.
