Nefyn Maritime Museum

The Maritime Museum in Nefyn is a modest affair housed in what was once a lifeboat station - a proper little waterfront building that tells you everything you need to know about why it's here. This stretch of Cardigan Bay has always been working waters, and the museum captures that life with old fishing gear, photographs of the town's maritime past, and stories of the lifeboats that still operate from nearby Pwllheli. You'll spend maybe an hour here, probably less if maritime history isn't your thing, but it's worth the stop if you're already exploring the coast around here.

The real appeal is less the artefacts themselves and more the sense of place. Walking through, you get a feel for how dependent these North Wales communities were on the sea - and still are. It's the kind of museum where the staff actually know what they're talking about because they've lived it.
