Standing at 339 metres, this lesser-known peak in the Malvern Hills offers cracking views across Worcestershire without the crowds that pack Worcester Beacon. The summit sits well back from the main ridge, which means a proper walk to reach it - not one for the casual Sunday stroller.

Hikers who know their stuff rate Old Hills highly. The approach from the west gives you a steady climb through woodland before opening onto grassland near the top. Views stretch across the Severn Vale on clear days, with Worcester clearly visible to the east.

Families with teenagers who don't mind a challenge will find this rewarding, though it's probably too much for little ones. Allow two to three hours for the round trip from Malvern. The paths can get muddy after rain, so decent boots are essential.
