Serious cavers will find the descent rewarding, with impressive rock formations and tight passages that require scrambling skills. The entrance sits in farmland between Wells and Cheddar, accessible via footpaths that can get muddy after rain. You'll need your own gear, headlamps, and ideally local knowledge or a guide.

Families looking for underground thrills should stick to Wookey Hole or Cheddar Caves instead. This one's for experienced cavers who know what they're doing and have proper equipment. The rock can be slippery, and some sections involve crawling through tight spaces.

From holiday parks around Cheddar like Bucklegrove Holiday Park or Petruth Paddocks Campsite, it's a short drive to the access point. Just remember this is wild caving - no facilities, no supervision, and definitely not suitable for casual exploration.
