Spadeadam Forest

The Spadeadam Forest spreads across Northumberland's moorland like a proper working woodland, not some manicured nature reserve. Families with older kids will do well here - younger ones might find it a bit repetitive unless they're keen walkers. History enthusiasts should know this land has Roman connections through nearby Hadrian's Wall, though the forest itself is a 20th-century addition.
