The church sits on a quiet corner in Louth, a market town that doesn't make it onto many holiday itineraries but absolutely should. St Michael and All Angels is exactly the sort of place that rewards a half-hour detour - proper medieval stuff, with the kind of architectural details that make history feel real rather than dusty.

Inside, you'll find a spacious nave with decent medieval stonework and the sort of light that only comes through old church windows. It's the building itself that speaks louder than any plaque - the bones of it tell the story of centuries of Lincolnshire worship. If you're the type to spend time reading tomb inscriptions and spotting where Victorian restorers got their hands in, you'll lose an hour easily. Families with younger kids might find fifteen minutes enough, though the scale of the place is genuinely impressive.
