Stanmore Country Park

The forest sprawls across decent acreage on the edge of Bridgnorth, all woodland paths and open clearings where you can actually breathe. It's the sort of place that rewards a proper walk rather than a quick pop-in, though there's nothing stopping you from just wandering the perimeter if time's tight.

What you get is straightforward: tree-lined trails, some wider than others, a few spots where the canopy opens up enough to feel like you've genuinely escaped the town. Dogs love it. Kids will manage an hour or so before the novelty of "more trees" wears off, unless they're the type who hunt for sticks and climb things. The forest floor shifts between proper paths and muddier sections - wellies sensible in winter.

There's no visitor centre or facilities that I'm aware of, so come prepared. Free access as far as I can tell, which is the main thing. Best visited on a dry day when the paths aren't treacherous, and honestly, the quieter weekday mornings beat weekends hands down.

For a park holiday, you've got Stanmore Hall Touring Park practically on the doorstep - less than half a mile away - which makes this a natural morning or evening stroll from your caravan or motorhome. Nothing flashy, but exactly what it promises: a decent dose of woodland without the drive. If you're based at any of the other local parks within the Bridgnorth area, this is one of those useful spots that fills an afternoon without requiring major effort.
