The Heath

The Heath sprawls across Hampshire with proper old-growth woodland and open grassland - the sort of place where you can actually lose the sound of traffic within five minutes of arriving. It's genuinely wild compared to the managed parks dotted around Hungerford, though if you're staying at Hollington Park Glamping you're well-positioned to pop over for a morning walk.

What you get is woodland paths that meander through mixed forest, plus open heathland where you might spot gorse and heather depending on the season. The walking here is straightforward rather than dramatic - think rolling terrain without the knee-destroying descents. Dog walkers clearly love it, and families with primary-school-age kids will find enough space to let them run about without constant supervision.

Time-wise, allow two to three hours if you want to actually explore rather than just stomp from car park to car park. Early morning or late afternoon is when you'll dodge the school groups, though honestly the Heath is spacious enough that crowds aren't really an issue. Spring is lovely for woodland flowers, autumn for the light filtering through turning leaves.

It's not a dramatic day-out destination - you won't get photos that'll impress anyone - but as part of a broader Hampshire ramble it works well.
