Viewing point

The viewing point near Skegness gives you a proper sense of the Lincolnshire coastline - flat, windswept, and strangely compelling. It's the kind of place where you can see for miles across the marshes and out to sea, especially on clear days when the light hits just right. The wind gets a bit fierce, mind you, so don't expect to linger if it's gusting hard.

This works best for people who actually like coastal walks and aren't after theme parks or amusements. Photography types will find decent shots here, particularly at dawn or late afternoon when the light softens everything. Families with young children might find it a bit bleak unless you're the outdoorsy type - there's no facilities, no shelter, just views. Walkers and bird-watchers will get more from it, especially since you're on the edge of some proper marshland.

You won't need more than thirty minutes here unless you're doing a longer coastal walk. It's free, naturally, and open whenever you fancy turning up. The real value is as a break from Skegness itself - if you're staying at Haven, Butlins, or one of the other parks within a few miles, it's worth a drive out to remind yourself the place has more than donkey rides and chip shops. Combine it with a proper walk along the marshes if the tide's right, or head into Anderby for a quieter village experience. Don't expect it to blow your mind, but it's a solid fifteen-minute detour if you're already in the area.
