Skegness Pleasure Beach

The fairground sprawls right along Skegness seafront like it's been there since the British seaside first became a thing - and honestly, bits of it probably have. Pleasure Beach is old-school amusement park territory: wooden roller coasters that rattle and groan in the best way, dodgems, the log flume, ghost train, the works. It's not Alton Towers. It's better than that if you've got kids aged roughly five to twelve or you fancy a nostalgic afternoon of vintage thrills.

The park sits practically on top of Skegness town centre, which means you can wander down with an ice cream, have a go on a few rides, then head back without needing to plan a full day. That said, if you're staying at Skegness Seaview Caravan Park just up the road or one of the bigger holiday parks nearby - Butlins is less than half a mile away - you could easily lose three or four hours here without noticing. The rides are modest but well-maintained, and there's something genuinely fun about the chaos of a traditional seaside fair.

Prices are reasonable for a day out, though you'll want to budget for food and the individual ride tickets unless something's changed recently. Go mid-week in summer if you can stomach the crowds at all - weekends turn the place into a proper scrum. Weather matters here too. Rain doesn't stop the fun, but a blustery day can make the outdoor queues genuinely grim. Perfect for a caravan holiday base rather than a destination in itself.
