A very well appointed and fairly large site with at least 4 shower blocks, an organic shop and cafe onsite and a games room with pool, fusball and pingpong available for a modest fee. Brilliant site, spacious, green lots of mature trees. Facilities excellent, staff excellent. Shieling coffee bar is great and do lovely pizzas in the evening. Pitches spacious but some are a bit old and worn with thin layer of gravel and have water drainage which is higher than the pitch....hence the 4 stars.....would give it 5 for everything else. I stayed here on one of the backpacker pitches. It cost £14 for the night, for my small 2 person tent, which feels a bit steep price wise, given the area of the pitches. There are only two backpacker tent pitches and both of them are right next to a fenced off area that says “highly flammable” “no open flame” which isn’t the most comforting thing to see. Great site staff friendly and helpful Great fully serviced pitches. Good stocked shop plenty to do in local area including castle which you get discount with you booking. On arrival they give a plan of site which is marked for your pitch.
