Just outside town lies some of England's most atmospheric ancient landscape. Hook Norton Brewery, a short drive away, still uses shire horses for local deliveries and operates from magnificent Victorian tower buildings. Their brewery shop stocks ales you won't find elsewhere, and the tours reveal proper traditional brewing methods unchanged for generations.

Chippy makes an excellent base for exploring the northern Cotswolds without the Bourton-on-the-Water crowds. You're twenty minutes from Chastleton House, half an hour from Stow-on-the-Wold, and the Evenlode Valley offers lovely walking country right on the doorstep. The A44 connects directly to Oxford in forty minutes, while the M40 is easily reached for London trips. Staying at one of the nearby holiday parks puts you in proper countryside while keeping the town's amenities close at hand.
