Dramatic limestone cliffs tower above golden beaches where Wales meets the Bristol Channel. This isn't the industrial Swansea most people picture - this stretch of the Gower Peninsula feels wild and untamed, with ancient caves carved into clifftops and smugglers' tales echoing from every cove.

The coastline here is proper spectacular. Culver Hole cuts deep into the rock face - a mysterious cave that's sparked centuries of legends about pirates and hidden treasure. Salt House stands as a weathered reminder of the area's maritime past, while Port Eynon Point juts into the sea like a giant's finger.

Views from Overton Cliff and Longhole Cliff stretch for miles on clear days. You'll spot seals bobbing in the waves below and peregrine falcons wheeling overhead. The Gower Society has worked tirelessly to preserve this landscape, and it shows - footpaths are well-maintained and the natural beauty remains largely unspoilt.

Getting here takes a bit of planning. The nearest proper town is Swansea itself, about 20 miles northeast. Public transport is patchy, so a car's your best bet for exploring the peninsula properly.

Staying at one of the local parks makes perfect sense for this area. Oxwich Camping Park puts you within walking distance of one of Wales' finest beaches, while Gower Farm Touring & Camping Park offers easy access to the coastal path. Bank Farm Leisure provides a good base for day trips along the coast, and you're never more than a short drive from another stunning viewpoint or secluded cove.
