Bradlow Knoll

Climbing up through the Herefordshire countryside south of Ledbury, Bradlow Knoll rewards walkers with sweeping views across the Malvern Hills and into Wales. The summit isn't dramatic - this is a gentle, rounded hill rather than a proper peak - but that makes it accessible for most fitness levels.

Families with older children will manage the ascent without too much huffing, though the very young might find it a slog. The paths can get muddy in winter, so proper walking boots are essential. No facilities up here, obviously - pack water and snacks if you're planning to linger.

What makes this walk worthwhile is the 360-degree panorama from the top. On clear days you'll spot the distinctive ridge of the Malverns to the east and the Welsh hills rolling away to the west. The surrounding patchwork of fields and hedgerows looks particularly lovely in autumn when the trees turn.

Allow two hours for a comfortable round trip from the nearest parking. It's free to walk, naturally, and the countryside is always open. Perfect for stretching legs if you're staying at one of the caravan sites around Ledbury - Mike's Meadow Glamping and Yew Tree Farm are both within easy driving distance. Just don't expect wilderness - this is very much managed English farmland, but pleasant enough for an afternoon's ramble.
