About Oyster Hill

Standing at 446 metres, this modest summit on the eastern edge of the Malvern Hills offers surprisingly rewarding views across the Severn Vale without the crowds that swarm over Worcestershire Beacon. The walk up from Ledbury takes about forty minutes through mixed woodland and open hillside - proper walking boots recommended as it gets muddy after rain.

From the top, you can see clear across to the Cotswolds on a good day, with the cathedral spire at Worcester visible to the north. It's not the most dramatic peak you'll ever climb, but there's something satisfying about having a hill largely to yourself. The path is well-marked but steep in places, so probably not one for families with very young children.

Walkers staying at sites like Malvern Hills Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite or Up Sticks Glamping will find this makes a decent half-day outing. Best combined with a wander around Ledbury itself - the black-and-white Tudor buildings are worth an hour of anyone's time. Early morning is when you'll get the clearest views, before the heat haze builds up.
