Canon Bridge RC Boat Club

Canon Bridge is where model boat enthusiasts gather on the water just outside Hereford. It's the home of the local RC Boat Club, and if you're into that sort of thing - or you've got a kid who is - it's worth knowing about. The club operates from a stretch of water that's genuinely pleasant for a riverside walk, even if you're not here to race miniature speedboats.

The real appeal depends entirely on your interests. If you're a model boat person, this is your people. If you're not, you'll get maybe twenty minutes of mild entertainment watching the boats zip about. The waterside setting is genuinely nice though - proper English riverside, the sort of place locals bring a flask and spend an afternoon. It's free to watch, which keeps the barrier low for curious visitors.

Timing-wise, don't plan more than an hour here unless you're actually a member. Club activities run according to their schedule, so it's worth checking in advance. The location works well if you're based at one of the nearby campsites - Long Coppice is barely half a mile away, so it's an easy evening stroll from your pitch.

Hereford itself has proper attractions if this doesn't grab you - the cathedral is genuinely impressive. But if someone in your group is mad about radio-controlled boats, Canon Bridge gives you a legitimate reason to stop by. It's not a destination on its own, but paired with a campsite nearby and a walk along the water, it fills an hour acceptably.
