Friskney Hall

You'll find Friskney Hall tucked away in the Lincolnshire countryside, about three miles inland from Skegness. If you're camping nearby at Riverside Caravan Park or Grange Farm Campsite, both within three miles, it's worth a quick visit if you're into medieval Lincolnshire. Allow an hour max, really. The real appeal is fitting it into a broader exploration of the Fens landscape rather than making it a destination in itself. Late spring when the surrounding fields come alive makes for a better walk than winter mud.

For something with more immediate impact, you're better off heading towards Skegness for the beach. But if you're already in the area staying at one of the nearby parks and you've got an interest in how people lived eight hundred years ago, the earthworks here show the real bones of medieval England.
