Khyber Car Park, Mugdock Park

The Khyber Car Park sits at the edge of Mugdock Park, just north of Glasgow, and it's one of those places that makes you stop and think about what you're looking at. Named after the famous mountain pass in Afghanistan, this modest stone structure was built as a folly in the 1890s by a wealthy Glasgow industrialist - essentially a grand entrance to what was meant to be a private estate. It's not going to hold your attention for hours, but it's worth a quick detour if you're already exploring Mugdock Park itself, which sprawls across 350 acres of woodland and grassland.
