About Kingsbarns Beach
Walkers will find this spot genuinely useful. The beach connects into longer coastal paths that thread through the golf courses towards Crail and beyond, so it works well as a stop-off rather than a destination in itself. The sand is firm enough for pushchairs if you're managing toddlers, though the car park sits a few hundred metres back. Kids will entertain themselves for a good couple of hours - plenty of rockpools when the tide's out, enough space to actually run about without annoying other people.
What makes it worth the detour from Anstruther is that it doesn't feel managed or manicured. No ice-cream kiosks, no beach volleyball nets, just you and the water and whatever weather the North Sea's throwing at you. Summer's obviously warmer, but winter storms here are genuinely spectacular if you don't mind getting blown about. The nearby parks at Sauchope Links and Off the Track put you well within striking distance for a half-day outing. Allow an hour minimum, longer if you're actually walking the coastal path.
