St Paul's Church, Helsby

St Paul's Church sits on the edge of Helsby village, a solid red-sandstone building that commands the hilltop with proper old-school charm. Inside, there's enough to satisfy anyone with a genuine interest in local ecclesiastical history. History buffs will find this worthwhile; casual walkers treating it as a curiosity en route might find it a bit thin for the effort. Fair warning: it's a proper working parish church, so opening hours depend on who's volunteering that week. Best ring ahead rather than arriving to locked doors.

It works well as a stop when basing yourself at The Ridgeway Country Holiday Park just down the road, or if you're staying further out at Delamere Forest. Frodsham's only a couple of miles away if you need proper shops or a decent lunch.
