Swillbrook Lakes Nature Reserve

The water here is proper still first thing in the morning - three linked lakes that sit quietly in the Wiltshire countryside just outside Cirencester, drawing everything from mallards to the occasional heron. Swillbrook Lakes Nature Reserve is the kind of place you come to actually notice things: dragonflies skimming the surface, sedge warblers in the reeds, the whole slow ritual of a working wetland.
